Gigi Swartz

Catherine “Gigi” Swartz was named chief financial officer for AIP in June 2013. She joined AIP as assistant treasurer in 1998 and was promoted to controller and assistant treasurer in 2000. She is responsible for all facets of finance and accounting for AIP and serves as the treasurer for the American Center for Physics. She has overseen many AIP goal-driven projects over the years including upgrades to the financial accounting system, increased internal controls and efficient policies and procedures.
Prior to joining AIP, Gigi worked for other not-for-profit organizations in different industries. She was director of finance and administration at the Business Products Industry Association (BPIA) where she was responsible for finance, accounting, human resources, information technology and building management. Prior to BPIA she was one of the first mangers hired to start up a new organization, the National Dairy and Promotion Research Board.
Swartz earned her master’s degree in finance from The George Washington University. She graduated from the School of Management from George Mason University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in accountancy. She is a licensed certified public accountant and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Virginia Society of CPAs (AICPA). She also served as president for the District of Columbia Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants and volunteers for other not-for-profit organizations.
