I have always had questions about how the world around me works. A bachelor’s degree in physics and astronomy will allow me the ability to find the answers to my questions and make advancements in a field that I have always been drawn to.

There is so much potential for innovation and creativity in physics, leading to contributions in other fields that directly benefit the world around us.

After receiving my bachelor’s degree in physics, I plan to attend graduate school. Afterwards, I hope to conduct research that will move the needle of discovery in physics forward.

This year, I have the privilege of interning at my university’s research reactor. My research will deal with advancements in lithium-ion batteries. I will have the opportunity to conduct experiments, analyze data, and draw conclusions on my own.

As a low-income first-generation student, I have held at least two jobs throughout my college career. However, with the help of the TEAM-UP Together award, I have been able to quit one of my jobs and focus much more heavily on my academic success.
