Jestina Smith Headshot

My interest in physics derived from my school’s Society of Physics Students chapter and the diverse applications of physics. Almost anything you can think of has some relation to physics.

I am most passionate about understanding how the universe came to be and applying physics to solve our biggest global problems, whether that be in climate, medicine, nuclear, or instrumentation.

I am the vice president of the SPS Chapter at Morgan State University. My chapter has received the most notable chapter award. I mentor freshman physics students to help them navigate their first year of physics and take part in MSU’s “Physics Clinic”.

The TEAM-UP physics scholarship eased the financial burden of school, giving me the chance to finish strong. It allows me to focus on my growth in physics and confidently pave the way toward my future in the field.
