I'm extremely passionate about everything related to light, especially light pollution and its implications for society and science.

I am fascinated by the stars, and physics and astronomy have been things that I have consistently enjoyed struggling through. No matter how hard it gets, it amazes me so much that I know it is worth continuing.
I hope to get a Ph.D. in astronomy and become a college professor. Particularly, I want to focus on understanding light—how it behaves in the universe and how our increasing use of artificial light impacts both astronomical research and society.
I’m currently an APS student ambassador and secretary for the Carleton chapter of the Society for Physics Students! I’m also a Dark Sky advocate and am working with other Carleton students on a project to address light pollution on our campus.
This scholarship award has made it possible for me to focus on my studies without unexpected financial barriers standing in the way of my goals.
