I am most passionate about physics education research. Understanding who does physics and how they learn about it is very interesting to me, and I want to expand the population of physicists to include more people of color and women.

After taking my first intro class in community college, I became fascinated with physics. I love learning why the world around us acts the way it does. Understanding physics is important because it lays the foundation for many scientific subjects.
My goal is to become a physics education researcher and make physics culture more equitable for minorities. I’d like to do this by improving our teaching tools and creating more inclusive classroom environments.
I recently participated in a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) in Utah, where I focused on the prior resources that students are bringing to their quantum courses. My goal is for students to recognize and capitalize on the valuable knowledge they are bringing to the classroom.
This scholarship will have a positive impact on my educational journey, and being able to prioritize my studies will help me focus on my degree. Having peace of mind regarding my finances makes me feel secure about my choice to pursue a physics degree.
