My story

I am most passionate about deciphering and understanding the nature of dark energy. For something that makes up such a large portion of the universe (~96%!), we know very little about it. I currently have been looking at graduate schools and post-baccalaureate programs that I (hopefully) may be able to attain, so that I am able to pursue a Ph.D. in astrophysics.

Over the summer I had the privilege of interning at the Flatiron Institute’s Computational Astrophysics department. My research was about understanding the cosmos and how other large-scale structures within the universe (such as the cosmic web) are impacted by varying amounts of dark matter, dark energy, baryonic matter, etc.

Receiving this scholarship allowed me to pay my tuition for the upcoming spring semester and to finish my final year at Bowdoin. This award also allowed for me to stop working my campus job for this fall semester and focus on graduate school applications. I truly cannot thank the donors, members of AIP, TEAM-UP, NSF, and NSBP enough.
