My high school physics teacher made the subject really fun for me. I enjoyed the physical demonstrations paired with manipulating equations. I saw the subject as a fun challenge!
Within the STEM fields, I am most passionate about education. The more we educate everyone, the quicker we can get there.
After finishing my undergraduate degree in physics at DSU I plan to acquire a Ph.D. in materials science. From there, I want to help solve the problem of sustainability by studying photovoltaics and energy storage systems.
I’m really happy about my recent Caltech Summer Undergraduate Fellowship with the Atwater group. I was able to design an antireflective coating for a low-cost solar panel. The project exposed me to many talented researchers and cool characterization tools.
Receiving the TEAM-UP Together scholarship takes a huge weight off my shoulders. I’m currently applying for graduate school and internships. Now, I’m able to make these big life decisions under less pressure.
