My interest in physics stemmed from my first college general physics class. Though I once planned to major in computer science, my professor’s passion made physics come alive. His teaching inspired me to pursue it as my major with genuine excitement.
My internship at Fermilab working on the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector upgrade deepened my excitement and confirmed my goal of pursuing a Ph.D. in the field.
My future plans are to pursue a Ph.D. in physics and build a career in particle physics research. I hope to contribute to major discoveries about the universe’s fundamental forces and be part of advancing scientific knowledge.
I interned at Fermilab on a system for the CMS detector upgrade at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). Continuing this research during the academic year has given me valuable hands-on experience in particle physics and strengthened my passion for the field.
As an international student from Jamaica, funding is my biggest barrier. U.S. opportunities in physics are world-class but are costly and often closed to non-citizens. This scholarship eases that burden, letting me focus fully on research and learning.
