Dayanara Rogel

Physics and Biology, Mount Holyoke College
I am fascinated by the concept of quantum entanglement and how our world works when you look at it through the lens of tiny particles such as neutrinos or electrons. I am also interested in fluid dynamics and how it’s used to predict weather.

Dayanara Rogel Headshot

What first sparked my interest in physics and astronomy was a book I was gifted when I was younger. Over the years I’ve explored physics and astronomy, I realized that I loved asking WHY things happen, so I pursued physics.

I am fascinated by the concept of quantum entanglement and how our world works when you look at it through the lens of tiny particles such as neutrinos or electrons. I am also interested in fluid dynamics and how it’s used to predict weather.

I plan to pursue graduate studies in astrophysics or particle physics to further continue exploring the origins of our universe. I also want to make physics more accessible for students in low-income areas and give back to my community.

I am currently on the e-board for the astronomy club at Mount Holyoke, We are working on making astronomy more accessible for both Mount Holyoke students and the South Hadley/Pioneer Valley area.

This scholarship has allowed me to be able to be more active in my program without having to worry about how I am going to pay for the next semester. It has given me the resources I needed to succeed and be able to start doing research.
